Usage[edit | edit source]
Chopping[edit | edit source]
Mechanical Saws are powered through rotational force, and when placed down facing to the side they will automatically chop down wood blocks in front of them. When chopping down a tree or giant mushroom, it will automatically destroy the entire tree by only destroying the bottom-most block. Blocks tagged as TREE_ATTACHMENTS will also be broken if found on the tree.

Mechanical saws are only supposed to mine 2x2 trees as long as at least the last block (horizontally) is mined using the saw. The easiest way to bypass this is by removing the block immediately above the block being cut, in which case the entire 2x2 tree will be cut down by the mechanical saw.

Mechanical saws can mine any structure of logs that doesn't have a vertical 2x2 square with the block being destroyed as one of the bottom blocks
Mechanical saws are automatically powered when on a create Contraption. The saw will damage entities and break blocks at a certain speed depending on the contraption's speed.
Mechanical saws can break the following blocks directly:
- Any logs (including stripped logs)
- Any wood (including stripped wood)
- Any leaves
- Non-muddy mangrove roots
- Mushroom stems
- Cactus blocks
Mangrove roots can be broken like logs but do not count as a log to leaves
Mechanical saws can break non-stem mushroom blocks and wart blocks when they are connected to the block directly broken and there is another log/wood/stripped log/stripped wood/mangrove roots block adjacent to or above the block directly broken.
Leaves can be broken by being placed directly in front of a saw. They can serve as the first block broken in a tree if there is a log adjacent to or above it. Leaves will only be broken if the number of blocks it takes to connect it to the block broken is equal to or less than the number of blocks it takes to connect it to another log, if it can be connected to another log/wood/stripped log/stripped wood block by those or other leaves
Sawing[edit | edit source]
When placed facing upward, the Saw applies sawing or stonecutting recipes. When a recipe has multiple outputs, an output will be randomly selected unless a filter is applied to the Filter slot located next to the saw blade.

Any Stonecutter recipe can be applied using a Filter, otherwise a random recipe will be selected.
